If you ask any person in Norway about the development in Green House Gas(GHG) emissions since 1990, they probably would guess that the emissions have increased tremendously.
Why wouldn’t they, all the time the focus on the matter has equally increased. Expert answers would probably not differ too much. An informal survey in our office gave a range from 30 to 100% increase in emissions.
In 2018 the GHG emissions in Norway were 1,1% higher than in 1990.
Oftentimes we instinctively perceive the world with the mass media as our main source of information. Even environmental experts like us can be influenced by the constant flow of news articles and tweets and lose sight of the facts.
In a world were climate is changing, the discourse needs to be fact-driven.
The time has come to say fair’s fair
To pay the rent, to pay our share
The time has come, a fact’s a fact
It belongs to them, let’s give it back
